Derek is a rebel without cause until he discovers how much fun it is to pick on his new step-sister Casey! He's used to getting his way, but has a soft heart hidden inside of him, which sometimes gets in the way of his desire to win.
Casey MacDonald
Casey, a determined 15-year old girl, is a bit of a drama queen. She makes friends easily and takes school seriously, but not as seriously as she takes beating her step-brother Derek at his own game!
George Venturi
George is Derek's, Edwins and Marti's dad and also step-dad to Casey and Lizzie. Even though he already has one daughter, having two new daughters throws some unexpected turns his way. But he always manages to help resolve sticky situations.
Nora MacDonald
Nora is Casey and Lizzie's mum, and also step-mum to Derek, Edwin and Marti. She's an extremly accepting parent and is hoping that it'll be only be a matter of time before Casey and Derek stop squabbling.
Lizzie MacDonald
Lizzie, Casey's younger sister, thinks this new 'family' thing is ok. She and Edwin have more common sense than their older siblings and become secret allies when forced to deal with the latest Casey-Derek drama.
Marti Venturi
Marti is definitley the most unique member of the family. She collects odd things and sometimes thinks she's a cat. Marti adores Derek and eventually grows to like her two older step-sisters as well.
Edwin Venturi
Derek's younger brother Edwin is funny and smart - he knows tons of interesting yet useless information. At first the idea of having two new sisters terrifies Edwin, but he grows to like his new step-sisters.
